Monthly Potluck gathering is held every last Sunday of each Month at the Islamic Center of Winona (71 W 3rd St). Doors open at 6:00 PM and open to all members, friends and well wishers of Islamic Center. Purpose of this potluck are socialization, family get-together, outreach, community building through personal interaction, welcome new members etc. We are blessed to have people coming from La crosse, Rochester and sometimes from Minneapolis. Bring a dish to share if you can or simply bring your smile.
During the holy Month of Ramadan, Islamic Center of Winona prepares Iftar (meal eaten after sunset) for everyone for the entire month. As large number of our members are students of local universities, serving Iftar allows students to have better meals during Ramadan month. This event is going on for more than three decades and we are always so lucky to have different family members volunteer to prepare the meals and all are welcome to this Iftar dinner.
Islamic center of Winona completely depends upon community donations. Curry Dinner is an annual fund raising event where members prepare dinner items, tickets are sold in advance and also at the venue. Event is advertised in local media, fliers and word of mouth. Last few years, event was held at First Congregational Church of Winona. Donations are also appreciated in excess of dinner tickets to raise funds for Islamic Center Maintenance.
